John Howard has made his last major speech of the campaign, addressing the National Press Gallery in Canberra.
He said that Labor has not produced a convincing plan for the future, and highlighted his own party's accomplishments over the past 11 years.
Not too surprisingly, question time was dominated by inquiries into today's election pamphlet scandal.
Mr Howard was also asked what the differences would be between he and Peter Costello as Prime Ministers. Howard admitted the men would bring different styles of leadership to the party and, should the Coalition win the election, the country. But the Prime Minister stated that on the core issues such as national security, the economy and industrial relations, Costello's policies would be similar to his own.
Howard also used the transition of Tony Blair to Gordon Brown as a precedent of a leadership change in the UK that was announced and accepted by the electorate.
