Malcolm Turnbull has declared that Peter Costello will be the next leader of the Liberal Party and said he did not foresee himself at the head of the party.
Turnbull appeared in a press conference with Alexander Downer with both men backing the Treasurer to assume the top job once John Howard retired. "Alexander and I agree, Peter Costello will be the next leader of the Liberal Party," Mr Turnbull said.
"I live very much in the here and now, I have learnt in my life that if you focus on doing the job that you have got well, do the task at hand well, then the future will look after itself."
