John Howard unveiled a $405 million plan to upgrade roads in marginal seats around Perth, where he is campaigning today.

Howard’s plan includes:
- $232.5 million for road upgrades around Perth airport
- $110 million for the Tonkin Highway
- A swag of smaller projects with the remaining funds

Some of the money will be taken from the Government's $22.3 billion Auslink II program, the rest is new.

During a press conference afterwards, Howard was attempting to spruik WorkChoices when he had another senior's slip.

"WorkChioces has created 417,000 new jobs," he boasted, "85 percent of them part-time."

Shouldn't that have been full-time?

The announcement came after another difficult morning walk for the PM, who was harassed along the Swan River.

First, two primary school children blasted the PM with a recording of a local Liberal ad to the tune of Click go the Shears on a portable ghetto blaster.

Then a fellow walker told Howard: “You’re going down guys – all the way to the gutter.”
